I am a photojournalist and a motorcycle enthusiast. You may wonder what the two have to do with each other. In my shop, Full Circle V-Twin, we have a complete machine shop. After having the lens hoods of my big Nikon lenses fall off because the knurled screw failed, I decided to craft one that would not fail. As many of you have experienced, the big knurled screw that holds the lens hood to the lens of our big NIKON glass, strips and we are forced to resort to all kinds of crazy fixes like gaffers tape, bungee cords, rubber bands, etc. Pretty neat for a lens that costs thousands of dollars. Well I have created a permanent fix for the problem and one that comes with a 5-year guarantee that the screw will not strip or fail. After careful research, we determined that the piece that securing screw goes into was made of pot metal. This piece is called the saddle and that is the part I supply.
