24 April 2009: Washington Capitals goalie Simeon Varlamov (40) makes one of his 20 saves as defenseman Brian Pothier (2) skates in on defense on a shot by New York Rangers defenseman Daniel Girardi (5) in the 3rd period in the fifth game of the Eastern Conference NHL quarterfinal playoff game at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. Varlamov shut out the Rangers for the second time in the series as the Washington Capitals defeated the New York Rangers 4-0 in the Eastern Conference NHL quaterfinal playoff.
