01 March 2009: The Latvia 1 bobsled driven by Janis Minins with sidepushers Daumants Dreiskens and Oskars Melbardis, and brakeman Intars Dambis finish their 3rd place run at the 4-Man World Championships competition on March 1 at the Olympic Sports Complex in Lake Placid, NY bringing Latvia their first World Cup Medal ever. The USA 1 bobsled driven by Steven Holcomb with sidepushers Justin Olsen and Steve Mesler, and brakeman Curtis Tomasevicz won the competition and the World Championship bringing the U.S. their first world championship since 1959 with a time of 3:36.61.
